Month-to-Month Deflation in Minahasa Selatan Regency in August 2025 was 2.46 Percent

Amurang Barat, (1/9) - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of Minahasa Selatan Regency recorded deflation of 2.46 percent (m-to-m) in August 2025. “There was a decline in the consumer price index (CPI) from 111.62 in July 2025 to 108.87 in August 2025,” explained Irena. This condition is in line with August 2024, where there was deflation of 0,15 percent. On an annual basis, there was inflation of 0.24 percent, and on a calendar year basis, there was inflation of 0.09 percent.
The expenditure group that contributed the most to monthly deflation was food, beverages, and tobacco, which experienced deflation of 5.28 percent, with an inflation contribution of 2.49 percent. Other expenditure groups that also experienced deflation in August 2025 were: housing, water, electricity, and household fuel at 0.03 percent; household equipment, appliances, and routine maintenance at 0.02 percent; health at 0.11 percent; and transportation at 0.02 percent.
The commodities that contributed most to m-to-m deflation in August 2025 were tomatoes, cayenne pepper, pork, and red chili peppers. Meanwhile, the commodities that contributed most to m-to-m inflation in August 2025 included skipjack tuna/scaled fish, rice, and shallots.
“On a monthly basis, all districts/cities in North Sulawesi Province experienced deflation. The deepest deflation occurred in South Minahasa Regency,” continued Irena.
